Onoda, Yusuke

profile

I am conducting research primarily on forest ecology to assess coexistence between multiple species and productivity in forests, as well as the breeding of forest trees to improve forest productivity. Although it has been difficult to obtain a complete understanding of trees via conventional ground-based measurement due to their massive size and complex structure, technological innovations such as drones and light detection and ranging (LiDAR) are transforming the way forest research is conducted. By making effective use of the large-scale data obtained through new technologies, I hope to contribute to environmental conservation and the advancement of the forestry industry.
